Emily Bence
I am a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering interested in the improvement of Deep Brain Stimulation in various contexts. My background is in computational modeling, but I am excited to get into different methods of quantitative research. I like to travel, experiment with film photography, and go to concerts.

Gianna Paier
I am a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering studying the therapeutic effects of Deep Brain Stimulation on multiple cognitive diseases through motion characterization. I am excited to explore this translational research area by connecting quantitative findings to clinical applications. In my free time, I enjoy photography, snowboarding, and watching movies.

Prerana Lakshmanan
I am a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering, with a background in electronics. My interests lie at the intersection of electronics and neural engineering, with a focus on electronic systems for interfacing with neural signals. Beyond academics, I’m a trained Indian classical dancer and in my spare time enjoy cooking, and watch movies.

Molly Baumhauer
I’m an MD/PhD student in biomedical engineering studying neuromodulation in epilepsy. My research interests grew from my background in physics and passion for making a meaningful difference for patients. I am particularly interested in studying organization and communication in the brain and translating this knowledge to design neurorehabilitation therapies. Outside of school, I enjoy dance, yoga, thrifting, knitting and hanging out with my two cats.
Undergraduate Students

Isabella Haindl
I am a junior majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in German. I am interested in understanding how neural circuits influence behavior and how technologies such as deep brain stimulation can be optimized to improve treatments for neurological disorders. I want to further understand the innerworkings of the brain and help improve people’s quality of life. Outside of the lab I enjoy reading, spending time with my friends, and traveling.

Rosianne Xu
I am a senior student in Biomedical Engineering with a background in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I am interested in understanding the neural mechanisms underlying brain function, developing methods to analyze and interpret neural signals, and advancing neuromodulation technologies to better treat neurological disorders. Outside the lab, I enjoy playing tennis, watching Formula 1, traveling, and cooking.

Elisabeth Gadzic
I am a senior majoring in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Electrical Engineering. I am interested in the interactions between electro-mechanical devices and neurological circuitry to create systems that improve patient outcomes. I love to travel and try new restaurants and coffee shops, otherwise you will find me crocheting a new scarf or sweater.

Agharnan Gandhi
I am a Biomedical Engineer (BS). I am interested in understanding the inner workings of the brain and harnessing this knowledge to improve neurological treatments. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, trying new restaurants, and looking at architecture.
